FBRI Board Member: Brian Sharer
Brian Sharer, Finite Carbon, Inc., Portland, Oregon

Brian has over 20 years of experience in forest modeling, inventory, and investment analysis in the private forestry sector and is currently Forest Analytics Manager for Finite Carbon.  In this role he manages inventory design, predictive analytics, project design optimization, and forest modeling for carbon offset projects developed under the California ARB Cap and Trade Program.

Prior to Finite, Brian was portfolio manager for over $500 million of U.S. timberlands assets at GreenWood Resources where he led inventory and predictive modeling for existing investments and acquisition targets. He has extensive analytical experience with Weyerhaeuser, Hancock Timber Resource Group, Forest Capital, and a diversity of private industrial, government, and non-profit landowners leading forest planning efforts, asset valuations, systems analysis, and forestry software development. Brian holds a BA in Biology from Colgate, an MS in Forest Economics from Oregon State, and an MBA from the University of Portland.

Brian has used FPS throughout his career and has seen its superior flexibility and applicability to a wide range of forest inventory and resource assessment problems spanning many different forest types and species.  He joined the FBRI Board in January 2016.  When he gets some free time and nothing needs to be fixed around the house, Brian enjoys hiking, fishing, playing guitar, choral music, and the sweet return every fall of football season.
