The Forest Projection and Planning System allows for your preferred log merchandizing specifications to be utilized by individual species. This includes Nominal and Minimum log lengths as well as Minimum diameter inside bark and minimum diameter at breast height. Additionally, compiled volume can be based on either Long Log or Short Log scale.

All Silviculture prescriptions can be customized to fit your management objectives which can be used to project and analyze change in forest volume and structure over time. The FPS growth and silviculture projections are compatible with the Stand Visualization System (SVS) software, developed by the United States Forest Service.

Use the Forest Projection and Planning System Software to track and report your annual depletions. This includes a unique process that tracks initial stand volume and incorporates volume depletion updates following harvest.
7. FPS is Spatially Aware using ESRI Software
The Forest Projection and Planning System Software can be linked to GIS (ESRI) software which creates an integrated platform between FPS and GIS. This linkage provides a crosswalk for data to transfer between FPS and GIS. Additionally, this linkage assists in accommodating regulatory policies such as wildlife, roads, riparian buffers, and green-up constraints necessary in forest management planning.
